On 14 July the Sultanate of Oman signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Türkiye aimed at strengthening their partnership, technical cooperation and investment in the energy sector.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Alparslan Bayraktar, Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. Specifically, the agreement outlines cooperation in key areas such as oil and gas, trade in liquefied natural gas (LNG), renewable energy, energy efficiency, alternative fuels, green hydrogen as well as carbon capture technologies.
Furthermore the agreement emphasizes the exchange of expertise and technology, as well as collaboration in developing joint projects. It also supports the organization of technical events that contribute to both countries’ shared goals of sustainable development and the transition to clean energy.
The MoU includes provisions for cooperation in policy development to enhance energy efficiency and also highlights joint efforts to explore financing opportunities and technologies related to the production, storage and transportation of green hydrogen.
