A tugboat developed by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has become the world’s first vessel to complete a green ammonia fuel bunkering operation at Dalian Port in China.
As stated, the fuel, produced by Envision Energy was bunkered at the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry terminal in Dalian by China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers, using a 5,500 HP ammonia dual-fuel port vessel.
This successful bunkering demonstrates how net zero fuels can scale from renewable power generation to hard-to-abate sectors like maritime shipping – a true breakthrough for green ammonia.

According to the statement, this achievement positions Dalian Port as the first in the world to offer bunkering services for biofuel, green methanol, LNG and green ammonia and reinforces the port’s role as a key hub for low-emission maritime energy in Northeast Asia.
To remind recently, COSCO Shipping also marked its first green methanol bunkering in Dalian, with 500 tonnes supplied to the COSCO Shipping Yangpu.
