Amon Maritime has announced the launch of Amon Bulk, a new initiative to provide dry bulk shipping services powered by ammonia fuel.
The company has secured NOK 253 million in funding from Enova to support the construction of two next-generation vessels: Amon Bulk 1, a Capesize bulk carrier with a capacity of approximately 180,000 deadweight tons (DWT), and Amon Bulk 2, a Kamsarmax bulk carrier with around 85,000 DWT capacity.
André Risholm, CEO of Amon Maritime, described the project as “a significant step toward decarbonizing deep-sea dry bulk shipping.”
The venture is now progressing into the shipyard evaluation and tendering phase, targeting vessel delivery by 2029.
To remind, in June, Enova provided approximately NOK 362 million in support to seven electric vessels and four charging facilities, marking a major step toward shipping electrification.
