Techcross and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries signed an agreement on July 10 to jointly develop ammonia treatment technology.
Ammonia is emerging as a promising alternative marine fuel. However, its toxicity poses environmental risks, especially in cases of leakage. While no specific regulations currently exist for ammonia discharge from ships, tightening global environmental standards make the development of safe treatment solutions crucial for market competitiveness.
As explained, the collaboration focuses on creating ammonia electrolysis treatment and gas recovery technologies, utilizing Techcross’s expertise in electrolysis.
We hope this agreement will be a good opportunity for both companies to lead the future eco-friendly energy market through the successful development of ammonia treatment technologies
… a Techcross representative said.
The signing ceremony was held at Techcross Busan factory and was attended by around 10 key personnel, including Techcross president Park Seogwon, Vice president Kim Seongtae, Central Research Director Kwon Kyungan, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Shipbuilding Design Division Director Lee Hwansik and Executive Director of Hull Design Department Ko Yongdae.
