TSUNEISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES (THI) successfully launched the world’s first methanol dual-fueled kamsarmax bulk carrier on 17 July.
The vessel is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage in January 2026. As stated, by adopting methanol as a propulsion fuel, the vessel achieves a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 10%, nitrogen oxides by 80%, and sulphur oxide by 99% during operations compared to conventional vessels.
Moreover, the use of green methanol further advances the decarbonisation of maritime transport, promoting environmentally responsible shipping practices.
The vessel also features a shallow draft and low air draft to ensure compatibility with a wide range of global ports. With a length of 229 metres, the vessel is also capable of entering Kamsar Port in the Republic of Guinea.
We remain firmly committed to our core principles of safety, stability, and sustainability. Through ongoing innovation and strong sense of environmental responsibility, we aim to lead the industry, deliver greater value to our clients, and drive positive change across the world.
