Seacon Shipping has joined forces with Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding for the construction of a teaching electric containership.
As reported, the vessel, measuring 104 meters in length, will be fully powered by electricity and serve dual purposes, as a commercial containership and an educational platform.
Designed and built in China, the containership will be used for coastal shipping, maritime training and scientific research, functioning as a floating laboratory.
Furthermore, it will feature integrated communication systems spanning land, sea, air and space as well as a digital twin ship management training platform and facilities to accommodate up to 48 trainees.
Onboard medical services and full accommodation are also included. Reports state that Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding views the project as a foundation for advancing green maritime technology, reflecting growing demand in the sector.
