Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co. Ltd. (DSOC) has signed a contract with China Bunker to build a 20,000-cubic-metre LNG bunkering vessel.
According to the reports, the 138-metre-long vessel will be China’s first independently developed LNG bunkering ship equipped with a membrane-type cargo containment system. As stated, it is designed to meet the latest environmental standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and will be capable of operating at major ports around the world.
Furthermore, the vessel will offer comprehensive LNG bunkering services, including inerting, cold tank pretreatment and gas testing. It will also feature built-in interfaces for future ammonia bunkering, ensuring flexibility for multiple fuel types. The project will be classed by the China Classification Society.
“The newly signed LNG bunkering vessel project marks another milestone in DSOC’s long-term commitment to high-end marine equipment in the fields of low-carbon, environmentally friendly, and clean energy,” the company stated.
