Grimaldi Group has taken delivery of its second ammonia-ready pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC).
The 9,000-car capacity vessel is compatible with electric vehicles, conventional fuel cars, and heavy ro-ro cargo, and features a new low-consumption main engine, integrated energy-saving devices, and a medium-voltage shore power system allowing zero emissions while berthed. In addition, the vessel holds RINA’s “Ammonia Ready” certification.
A few weeks ago, in late July, in Haimen (Jiangsu, China), the Grimaldi Group celebrated the naming ceremony of the Grande Shanghai, the first of ten next-generation Pure Car & Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessels commissioned from China Merchants Heavy Industries.
This delivery also marks a significant milestone for SWS, being its 600th vessel or offshore platform since its first delivery in 2003.
